<description>VK1 amateurs took to the hills to celebrate six months of Summits of the Air (SOTA). VK1 is about 500km from VK3, which is about the optimum distance for daytime contacts on 7 MHz. While SOTA stations are normally QRP, the low noise at both ends allowed many easy contacts to be made. All contacts were made pedestrian mobile with an 80cm diameter magnetic loop and an FT-817 transceiver. There is little new content in this video; it was mainly prduced so that VK1s could compare their signals as received in VK3.
