2018 Chevy Silverado Rear Window Won't Open! Blown Fuse Leads To A Common GM Problem

In this video I have a look at a customer's 2018 Chevy Silverado that came in with a complaint that the rear sliding window would not operate. What she forgot to mention was that the truck had already been somewhere else and the fuse for the rear window circuit was missing. After installing the proper fuse, it immediately blew, confirming a direct short somewhere in the circuit. From there I go through the diagnostic process, isolate the affected circuit, and narrow down the fault. A quick check of service information and Technical Service Bulletins points toward a known trouble spot. Believe it or not, despite the number of GM trucks that come through the shop, this is the first time I've personally run into this failure. The TSB was spot on and led us right to the problem. Sure, hindsight is always 20/20. I could have searched YouTube, Googled the symptom, checked the TSB first, and likely found the answer much faster. But that's not the point. The point is that a solid diagnostic process consistently leads you to the correct answer, whether you've seen the problem before or not.
