The Perfect Bite of Bread

Sometimes, because the world can be a really awful place, it's nice to take a moment, relax, breathe, and enjoy a small pleasure that can bring joy to your day. This is one of ours. We had folk over for brunch on Sunday, something we do with some regularity. That meant leftover bread. (We don't generally have bread or other high-carb items in the house, but with guests, they appear.) We had a couple of pieces left, and opted to showcase this little treat. The perfect bite of bread... French baguette (amazingly, Costco is a decent player here!), crisp just the very top layer of one side (i use our Searzall), slice a clove of garlic and rub the open side against the toasted edge, apply room-temperature butter (Kerrygold grass-fed Irish butter is best... and because so many commenters have already asked, this is our butter dish... https://www.thekitchn.com/good-question-d-2-14288 ...a butter bell), a pinch of French grey sea salt (optional), ...take the time today to be good to yourself, and to the others in your life who matter to you. Or, you know, just be good to everyone you meet if you have the spoons for that. The world could do with a little more kindness.
