<description>You've probably seen the video on the SummerLoop - a 40 centimetre diameter magnetic loop for 15 through to 6 metres. Since then the weather's hotted up as have the band conditions. The summer sporadic E season is upon us and six metres isn't just noise anymore. In this video I go down the beach to suss out six. All but one of the contacts took place on Saturday 31 December 2011 - a day when 50 MHz was wide open between VK3 and VK4 (distances around 1000 - 1500km). The transceiver used was an FT-817 with 5 watts output. See the first SummerLoop video for more info about the antenna's construction. UPDATE: This loop has now been rebuilt into a more efficient version with aluminium strip.
