<description>A look at the Ten Tec R4020 QRP transceiver. Designed and made in China, I understand this 40 &amp; 20m transceiver was modified to meet FCC specifications. Things not commented on: 1. Instruction manual isn't the best but the rig is easy enough to use. 2. Reports of the transmitted signal were very good, with no clicks or chirps. 3. Receive current consumption about 55mA, or about 1/6 that of the FT-817. It filled my need for a not too expensive portable QRP rig for these two popular bands. There's a few minor things that could have been done better, but overall I highly recommend it. As the log extract shows, it is capable of many DX contacts, even with simple antennas, when tested by the beach.
