The internal bushings of the cam synchronizer housing will wear out and case the shaft to wobble which will damage the camshaft position sensor. Complete replacement of both the synchronizer housing and camshaft position sensor is needed when this happens. Setting the timing for these things can be tricky without the Ford specific tool but they can also be set with a scope.
