Much longer than a typical case, and there was so much that we needed to know, but nobody told us. Times have changed and while there still isn't a cure for Alzheimer's in 2019 when I made this video, there are breakthroughs being made in understanding what causes it. This video discusses many of the things we found out the hard way to make it easier for other people in the same situation. It's still worth trying the drugs that are available, but make an informed decision as to their effect. In most instances the drugs are an attempt to keep the patient coherent for the family's benefit, but in doing so risk causing distress to the patient by holding them back from their gentle descent into happy innocence.
