<description>QRP portable from Werribee South beach, 30km west of Melbourne. Nearly 20 contacts were made in 2 1/2 hours of operating - all 40 or 20m. The number was increased by it being the Oceania DX contest, with a good number of Europeans worked on 20m CW. On the north shore of the bay, long path signals to Europe would arrive over the water. The antenna was 10m of wire on a 9m squid pole, end-fed. There was only a short counterpoise wire. Operation took place from two locations - Werribee South pier, and a little further east at the end of Duncans Rd near the proposed marina. The contact with VK4VN was on 20m SSB over a distance of nearly 1400km.
