<description>Following on from the good results the previous day with 500 milliwatts, this video shows even lower powers being used from home. The Field Day is a good time to try milliwatt power levels as there are many stations operating from good locations with little interference. The video shows the results of 30 minutes of casual operation on 40 metres around 9am local time. The power was cut back by switching in an attenuator in the antenna line. See the ARRL handbook for design info or read more on attenuators here: http://pandapedia.com/wiki/Attenuator_(electronics) Stations were initially called with 20 milliwatts. If no results after at least two calls the power was increased to 100 milliwatts. 100 milliwatts was still too weak for most stations to hear. However four could hear it and of those one could also hear 20 milliwatts. The antenna used was a dipole with tuned feeders about 9 metres high at the apex.
