Thanks so much! We're trialling a concept this season that seems promising, but certainly is an experiment. Using a series of identical tubs, we're able to fill them each with compost from our chicken yard, and load them as units onto the back of the truck. A truck full can come up to the main nursery any time I travel up there and be laid out in a 4' x 8' configuration, with all 'weeds' or herbaceous plants laid down and covered in a thick layer of hay first. Then seeded heavily with fast growing aggressive annuals to fill out and spread for the season. The hope is to have such intense cover for the season as to knock back the existing plants, and then in the fall to dump out the containers and leave the soil to grow in a permanent raised bed.
