DragonOS Noble WSJT-X Quick Test over Wi-Fi HaLow (AirspyHF, SDR++, GridTracker2)

In this video I walk you through my experimental remote SDR setup in real time. I’m running SDR++ in server mode on a remote x86_64 PC that’s equipped with an AirspyHF and a YouLoop antenna. The IQ/RF data is streamed over a Wi-Fi HaLow transparent bridge using a Lilygo T-HaLow device—one connected to the remote PC via Ethernet and another bridging the connection over the air to my home network router. I record my screen from a LAN-connected PC running DragonOS Noble (now based on Lubuntu 24.04) and demonstrate how I quickly set up a virtual sink, configure SDR++ for USB demodulation, and enable rigctl within the software. Then, I show you how to link WSJT-X to both the rigctl and virtual audio sinks. While I’m not claiming to be a WSJT-X expert, my goal is to share the get-up-and-running process and verify that the applications work as intended during live recording. I also touch on gridtracker2—highlighting some quirks in its update process, such as the current omission of the ham radio category in the shortcut created. Whether you’re looking to expand your remote SDR capabilities or integrate various digital mode tools, this video offers a hands-on look at my workflow.
