Richard removed the cover from a convector in their bedroom and determined that the noise was being caused from copper pipes expanding as they heat up and rubbing against the wood floor and framing in the basement. To fix the problem, Richard installed plastic sleeves called "mickeys," which support the copper heating pipes and isolate them from any wood.
