That's right, i bought a new project house and I'm tearing it apart. I’m bringing this 1974 home back to the studs and completely reconfiguring the space so it makes sense for my wife’s forever home. I’ve missed renovating this way. This series will be a comprehensive guide for homeowners and DIYers, offering a rare, behind-the-scenes real life look at every step of the renovation processes from the initial demolition to the final reveal. I'm bringing some of my favourite Ottawa experts on to help with this project: Design: https://homebyeve.com Plumbing: https://horizonplumbing.ca Electrical: https://floodlightelectricottawa.com HVAC: http://www.sherkhomeservices.ca Asbestos Removal & Spray Foam: https://oreillybrothers.com Jobber: The best home service software for small business owners – Sign up for a free 14-Day Trial + Exclusive Discount 👉🏼https://go.getjobber.com/homerenovisiondiy-youtube In this project, we’re removing the old patio door and installing a larger, oversized patio sliding door. That means we’re not just replacing the door. We’re enlarging the rough opening, reframing the wall, dealing with exterior finishes, and fixing the kind of hidden damage you often find once you open up an exterior wall. If you’re planning to replace a sliding glass door, patio door, or exterior door, this video will walk you through what to expect, what can go wrong, and how to fix it properly. I’ll show you how to assess the existing door, remove it safely, inspect the wall for water damage or rot, modify the framing for a larger opening, prepare the rough opening, install the new patio door, waterproof the exterior, and finish the job so the door is secure, level, sealed, and ready for years of use. Patio door replacement is one of those projects that looks simple from the outside, but once you remove the trim and expose the framing, you may find problems like poor flashing, water damage, rotten wood, uneven framing, improper insulation, or an opening that needs to be rebuilt before the new door can go in. In this video, you’ll learn: How to remove an old patio door How to inspect for hidden water damage and wood rot How to enlarge a rough opening for a bigger patio door How to frame a patio door opening How to prepare the sill and rough opening How to install and level a patio door How to shim and secure a sliding glass door How to waterproof and flash an exterior door opening #justdoityourself #lovingit #perfecteverytime If you found this video useful and entertaining please subscribe to our channel 💪 FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA INSTAGRAM👉🏼 https://www.instagram.com/homerenovisiondiy/ FACEBOOK👉🏼 https://www.facebook.com/homerenovisiondiy/ TIKTOK👉🏼 https://www.tiktok.com/@homerenovisiondiy Disclaimer: Videos produced by Home RenoVision DIY are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only.
