http://www.edibleacres.org Can you ever have too much compost? In a way, no, but if it just keeps coming it can become a real challenge to keep up with the flow. Our chicken system keeps deepening in efficiency and production and now we're seeing 300-500 gallons of compost coming out of our high tunnel each week, all needing to go somewhere. We've been keeping up pretty well so far this winter but with snow expected and cold weather it becomes an actual challenge to keep up with the rate. Once we get backlogged enough it can be overwhelming to try to handle the accumulation. Sometimes permaculture design can actually create over yielding to the point where it's hard to know what to do with the excess abundance coming from systems that have been set in motion. We're learning this in real time with some of these systems. Rewarding but also daunting. Such exciting problems to have to figure out! https://www.paypal.me/edibleacres - A simple and direct way to ‘tip’ to help support the time and energy we put into making our videos. Thanks so much! Edible Acres is a full service permaculture nursery located in the Finger Lakes area of NY state. We grow all layers of perennial food forest systems and provide super hardy, edible, useful, medicinal, easy to propagate, perennial plants for sale locally or for shipping around the country… http://www.edibleacres.org/purchase - Your order supports the research and learning we share here on youtube. We also offer consultation and support in our region or remotely. http://www.edibleacres.org/services Happy growing!
