Water's Edge HF Pedestrian Mobile: Wadetenna with 7 MHz loading coil

Following good results with the Wadetenna (10 - 50 MHz vertical whip carried on a backpack) a centre loading coil was added to provide 7 MHz capability. This video shows how the loading coil was built and tested. The importance of bodily contact with the sand and being in (as opposed to near) the water is also demonstrated. Many contacts were made during a three hour operating session on 7 MHz SSB. Coverage of other bands will remain possible by adding a switch to short out the loading coil which is not required on 10 MHz and up. Note: This antenna is not recommended for use with powers of more than 5 watts.
