Alright, let's get to the Great Wall. This is the largest and heaviest wall we've ever framed. In this video we'll go through how to frame a rake wall efficiently. We'll get into lay out, how to transfer that lay out to the angled top plates, using LSL studs, and framing with an eye to keeping the wall strong for the lift. You'll see how we organize a two person crew to start from no lay out to having a fully sheathed wall ready for siding in 7 hours. Making an appearance in this video is the router pole, and how to successfully nail LSL together. I'll also get into why the sheathing isn't staggered. Lots to cover in this video, check the chapters below. Please remember I'm not showing the best way, just the way that works well for us. Its all a work in progress. Thanks for watching. Oh if you use a drone for commercial work, you need to be part107 certified. Commercial work includes social media like YouTube if you plan to make an income off of that. I watched a video about this last May and then purchased the Part 107 Course https://sso.teachable.com/secure/245841/checkout/1320802/bundle-remote-pilot-plus-maneuvers?coupon_code=FRAMERS100&affcode=245841_0eauthdo I studied and learned for 1 month and then took my test. I scored a 95%, which is a testament to how good Greg and the crew over there teach. That link will save you $100 off the course and support this channel. 0:24 Introduction to the Great Wall 1:22 Bottom plate lay out 11:38 Tack your bottom plates 12:36 How to calculate the end stud height 12:58 Start with the windows 13:10 Nailing LSL together (Paslode for the win) 18:30 Glulam ridge post 21:35 Perfectly straight top plates 21:55 Defining the gable 23:48 Birds eye view of the progress 24:46 Story update- pick points 25:36 Top plate lay out 29:58 Using the calculator 31:30 Laser distance tool 32:49 Framing in the rake 35:55 Update 37:50 Sheathing the wall 39:48 Router handle 43:13 Taping the wall PRODUCTIVELY 44:15 Final thoughts https://www.jlconline.com/how-to/framing/rake-wall-framing_o https://www.finehomebuilding.com/project-guides/framing/a-better-way-to-build-tall-walls https://www.overdrivenfastener.com/ https://zipsystem.com/ https://www.apawood.org/fully-sheathed-walls https://bit.ly/2021SpecialDesignProvisionsforWindandSeismic Wood Framed Shear Walls by Thor Matteson https://amzn.to/3wxh8Eh https://www.jlconline.com/how-to/framing/shear-walls-the-basics_o website https://www.awesomeframers.com/blog Instagram https://www.instagram.com/awesomeframers/ https://www.tiktok.com/@awesomeframers Company https://pioneerbuildersonline.com/ https://www.youtube.com/c/PioneerBuildersInc ISOtunes Bluetooth Hearing Protection - https://bit.ly/Timmy10 (10% off code: Timmy10) AwesomeFramers hat or anything Truewerk 15% off (use Timmy 15 if the link doesn't show the discount. https://truewerk.com/collections/workwear-shirts-hats/products/trucker-hat-tim-uhler-awesome-framers Check out AwesomeFramers Logo! https://tspr.ng/c/new-awesomeframers-logo badgertoolbelts.com #building #construction #framing
