We're at 1200' elevation, on a North facing slope, with a tremendous amount of clay and a lot of hill above us. Water is a beautiful resource but we have to allow it to pass through in thoughtful ways. The trenching and ponds combination allows water to flow through but leave its sediment and hopefully nutrient behind for us to harvest into the gardens later.
