<description>What a fun day! Sarah spends the morning teaching a friend (and you all) how to make homemade bread and playing with some of the cutest kids on the planet. Making bread from scratch is a money saver as well as an opportunity to know exactly what ingredients are in the food you are eating. Sarah reveals that you can make about 6 loaves of bread from scratch for the price of buying one loaf of bread from the grocery store. Sarah confesses that she used to be terrible at making homemade bread, but has gain a ton of confidence after starting to use this very recipe. Sarah and her friend, Andrea, go step by step through the bread making process and the bread turns out beautifully. Simple White Bread 2.5 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp instant yeast 2 tbsp sugar 1 tsp salt 1 cup milk- warmed to 120-130 degrees F 2 tbsp oil 1 egg about 1/4 cup additional flour In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar and salt. Stir in milk, followed by the oil and egg. Beat on high for 2 minutes. On low speed, add about 1/4 cup of flour until the dough forms into a ball. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 50 turns. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Shape dough into a loaf and put it in a greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch bread pan. Cover and allow to rise in a warm spot until it is one inch taller than the pan. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Bake for 30 minutes. After the first 15 minutes, cover the bread lightly with foil to prevent over-browning.
