<description>There is an unseen force that permeates all wild and naturalized lands. An abundance of energy that nourishes our mind body and spirit when we make the time to be present with it. All it takes is a few moments to clear our minds, opening the channels of communication and connection to the world around us. When going for a walk, physical distance or a fitness challenge should not be the goal. In fact the opposite is the case, slowing down and taking time to notice the little things, becomes much more effective at nourishing our whole being as well as our body. By re-enforcing our connection to nature we fuel our selves with the universal energy of abundance and purpose. In essence we start to feel better, become more present, and build up deep reserves of real power. Tips for connecting with plants and the natural world Let go of assumptions and expectations, forget what you think you know, but keep the tools and skills you have learned along the way. Approach all plants with wonder and common sense. Pay attention, then pay attention some more. Observation- gather information not expectation, feel touch taste name, family, habitat community. How does it acts under stress, or in different seasons. Get to know other plants in the same family, much can be learned from them. Sensory experience- What do your senses tell you? Emotional response- what feelings do you have come up. Does tasting it change any nervous system or emotional feelings. Often we discount these as they are unquantifiable, or unnamable. Remember that a balanced sense of self is necessary to have an accurate emotional response that is not self indulged. Interpretation- transform all of your perceptions into conscious understandings. Crunch the data, how does it all fit together? This may come to you all at once but will likely take time and come in the form of ah~ha moments. Expression can also be a good way to activate this. Application- how can we apply this to our lives, our selves, and our community. Sharing with Other people will help you understand it based on their experience. Learning from plants takes effort, time and patience. Just like getting to know a new friend. Enjoy the experience... You and your planet are worth it!!
