<description>with Herbal Jedi Yarrow Willard, and GoPro Ninja Shane Philip www.harmonicarts.ca Are you looking for a superior vegetable? Do you want to tonify your body to be its most vital? Are you ready for a gentle cleansing ingredient for upgraded life source materials? Then Burdock might just be the champion you’re looking for. I like to think of Burdock as a people plant. Meaning that where ever people go it follows. Liking disturbed soil and pathways it seems to be perfectly at home in urban environments. Similar to other people plants, its habitat choice leads us to believe that it is here to help us do our work. Some plants are working for the soil, the environment and the planet. This one though feels like one of its big jobs is to cleanse and tonify people, so that we may be more present and able bodied for our work with the planet. SO my prayer and affirmation with this plant is this: May Burdock help guide and fortify us to good health, as we learn to do the same for our home and mother, the earth. Traveled to North america from the old world, Burdock has a rich history of being eaten as a food in both Europe and Asia. The roots of the first year plant in the fall or second year in the spring can be eaten raw or cooked. Burdock makes a great addition to, or substitute for other root vegetables like carrots, parsnips and beets and can be prepared similarly. They can also be roasted and ground to be used as a coffee substitute. The Young leaves and shouts are tasty too and can be steamed as a green vegetable. They have shown to be helpful with stomach swelling and ulcers. Burdock root is a great cleansing alternative for the blood, liver, kidneys and skin. As a tea and tincture it has been used to stimulate liver and bile flow, ease stomach complaints, and as a mild laxative. It has been used for acne, eczema, psoriasis, hair loss, jaundice, skin ulcers. For arthritis, gall stones, and as a tonic working gently to flush out toxins via the blood, liver and kidneys. Like a powerful 1, 2, 3, combination. As a wash, tea the roots and leaves have been used for dry scaly skin, acne, skin sores/ulcers and lack of perspiration. It is opening to the pores, acting particularly on lymphatic system. The tea can be applied with a cloth or sponge or added to a bath. The Seeds also have an alternative effect, and are great as an anti-septic for bites, boils, bronchitis, chickenpox, coughing, sore throat, fever, flu, and lungs. They are also an old folk remedy for joint inflammation. Best prepared as a tincture, but can also be made as a tea. Unripe burs traditionally have been used in cases of Kidney infections, as a strong decoction tea. On a Mental/Emotional level, Burdock is said to help store restore vigour and momentum, breaking down deep and complex issues and helping us have faith to move forward on our path. P.S. This is not medical advise, this is purely for entertainment value, enjoy, relax and play with this info as a responsible human... at your own risk. 😃 #herbalism #herbs #medicine #wild #herbaljedi Please SUBSCRIBE COMMENT THUMBS-UP SHARE For more info on Burdock Check out Wild Rose College of natural healing at www.wrc.net https://www.facebook.com/WildRoseCollege To buy Burdock check out Harmonic Arts Botanical Dispensary.
