In this video, I walk you through the right way to attach a deck ledger so you can prevent rim joist rot, eliminate water damage, and build a deck that actually lasts 50 years or more. I’m using the Metwood deck ledger bracket system designed for vinyl siding, stone veneer, and masonry applications to create a proper stand-off from the house. This method improves drainage, protects the structure, and avoids the most common deck failure I see on job sites. If you’re planning a new deck build or replacing an existing one, this is one detail you don’t want to get wrong. We cover how to attach a deck to a house, how to prevent deck ledger rot, and how to build better than code so your deck doesn’t cause long-term structural damage.
