Using a low cost / low watt air bubbler for a fish tank, and some air stones at the bottom of a cut off drum, I've been able to see softwood cuttings of a wide variety of plants keep healthy looking, keep turgor, and pretty quickly start pushing proto roots. In the full sun, with some days above 95F (one day over 100F!!!); very challenging conditions! We'll provide updates as the season continues and what the next steps will be for these cuttings as they root!
