<description>In this video, I walk through a quick setup, install, and test of HackRF Sweeper, a reimplementation of the hackrf_sweep tool, now available as a library. You can find the project here: https://github.com/subreption/hackrf_sweeper. HackRF Sweep allows the HackRF SDR to scan through wide frequency ranges extremely quickly—covering up to 8 GHz in just one second. This makes it ideal for spectrum monitoring, interference detection, and electronic survey applications. While the video is just an initial test, it highlights the basics of setting up HackRF Sweeper and publishing data over ZMQ. I also demo the creation of CURVE certificates for secure communication (my first time using CURVE certs). The Python-based demo application connects to the ZMQ publisher, and I show a quick visual of frequency vs dB plots to confirm everything is working. Although this video is just a quick test, HackRF Sweeper’s ability to publish data via ZMQ opens the door for integration into larger third-party tools and applications—perfect for those building custom RF solutions. If you’re interested in HackRF or spectrum analysis, this video offers a quick-start guide to get you going!
