It's generally considered that DSB cannot be received very well on a simple direct conversion receiver. While DSB is harder to tune in than SSB, this test with VK2FPQ proves that provided the signal is at good strength perfectly copiable results are possible. An OzQRP MDT DSB transceiver was used for this test. The test starts off receiving a DSB signal (only very weak carrier discernible when tuning off) followed by AM (strong carrier discernible). Things that may have helped include: a. VK2FPQ's good signal strength and frequency stability, b. a tiny residual carrier to aid tuning and c. good audio filtering in the direct conversion receiver PS: If you liked this video please consider supporting Amateur Radio VK3YE by: Subscribing on YouTube,, Checking my books page at https://books.vk3ye.com, Shopping on Amazon via: https://amzn.to/3iiDQXv, or, Shopping on eBay via: https://ebay.us/i9DuWP (then if you buy something I'll get a small commission at no cost to you)
