        <description>Describing and demonstrating an old homebrew direct reading capacitance meter.  It uses a 555 timer and would have been developed in the 1970s.  Equipment like this was used by electronics enthusiasts when test equipment was expensive and many built their own.  As you can see from the test it can still give accurate results after more than 20 years.
