<description>http://www.edibleacres.org https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1haLBmp0Co - Original video showing the setup... After about 1 month of our hay bale garden setup, I thought it would be good to show how they are performing. Overall, pretty happy with them considering that they are just old hay bales with a thin layer of compost on them, set up mid-summer, in a very dry time, with plants plopped into them. Starting to see the plantings growing and getting happier with life, but the lesson I'm learning is to set these up and put them into a cover crop for a bit to let them ease into things, rather than immediately going into the main crop we want. Overall, I'd be very happy to do this experiment again or set it up for clients, but now I understand more about the timing and the need to be patient for them to 'wake up' and be fertile. http://www.edibleacres.org/ - our permaculture nursery in NYS Edible Acres is a full service permaculture nursery located in the Finger Lakes area of NY state.
