It was suggested that I exchange the faulty blue ones for red ones to show the progressive failure across the panel over time. The piece of silicone tube I'm using to grip the LEDs for extraction while heating both pads simultaneously, is standard aquarium style silicone tubing. It's perfect for removing 5mm LEDs. The PCB is single sided to facilitate easy maintenance. Which turned out to be a good thing.
