<description>It's officially soup weather!!! We are starting off deer hunting season with some homemade potato soup to warm Kevin up when he gets in from the woods. Just a few days before, we dug up some of our homegrown potatoes...so they're going in the pot with raw milk and cream. We made it a perfect meal with drop biscuits on the side. Yummy Potato Soup 1 lg. onion, diced 2 rib celery, diced 1/4 cup fat (butter, lard, bacon grease, or coconut oil) 5 cups peeled and diced potatoes 3 cups chicken broth 3 cups milk (I used half milk, half cream), divided 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/4 cup flour cheese, green onion, crispy bacon for garnish In a stock pot, saute onions and celery in the fat for 5 minutes or until they are soft. Add potatoes and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer (covered) for 15 minutes or until potatoes are soft. Stir in salt, pepper, and 2 cups of milk. In a small bowl, combine remaining milk and flour. Whisk until smooth, and stir into stock pot. Bring soup to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until soup is thickened while stirring constantly. Garnish soup with cheese, green onions, and/or crispy bacon pieces. Enjoy!! Some of our MOST FAVORITE homestead products AMAZON STORE: https://www.amazon.com/shop/livingtra...
