A demonstration of evening AM broadcast reception on a National Panasonic GX-3 portable receiver. The first test is trying to receive a weak signal on the same frequency of a local station on 855 kHz (not 856 kHz). The local signal could mostly be nulled out and the distant station (4QB/4QO?) heard underneath. Overall sensitivity is reasonably good and selectivity was better than the Optimus 12-603A receiver also tested. Audio quality on local signais was OK but not special and clearly inferior to the optimus. Unlike the small Sony SRF-59 walkman, tuning was very easy, with a large knob and wide dial. AM sensitivity 7/10 AM selectivity 7/10 AM tonal quality 6/10 FM sensitivity 6/10 FM selectivity 5/10 FM tonal quality 8/10 Ease of tuning 9/10 Dial 6/10 Overall - a handy sized set suitable for local and near fringe reception 7/10 PS: If you liked this video please consider supporting Amateur Radio VK3YE by: Subscribing on YouTube,, Checking my books page at https://books.vk3ye.com, Shopping on Amazon via: https://amzn.to/3iiDQXv, or, Shopping on eBay via: https://ebay.us/i9DuWP (then if you buy something I'll get a small commission at no cost to you)
