This tutorial is part of the OSINT At Home series. It’s a guided walkthrough on how to find deleted posts from political accounts using five public archives and databases, with a practical follow-along example focused on Trump’s posting history and how similar tools can be used for other high-profile public figures.

The examples in this video are chosen purely to teach archiving and verification techniques. They do not indicate or reveal investigations I am currently working on.

It should be noted that due to API changes in some platforms, the a number of the archives have not been able to collect recent data, but still hold an important catalogue of historical archived posts and content.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Political accounts and other influential figures delete content all the time. Sometimes it’s a typo, sometimes it’s a U-turn, sometimes it’s PR damage control. If you’re doing research, journalism, or investigations, knowing where to look and how to verify what you’ve found saves hours and stops you relying on random screenshots. Also, some of these tools provide an incredibly useful search function, allowing you to scroll back in time through posts that might have mentioned a specific keyword, saving you the time and effort of an endless scroll through content.

TIMESTAMPS
00:40 Trump Archive https://www.thetrumparchive.com/
00:58 Factba.se https://rollcall.com/factbase/trump/topic/social/?platform=all&sort=date&sort_order=desc&page=1
01:32 Politwoops https://projects.propublica.org/politwoops/search?q=trump
02:00 Trump's Truth https://trumpstruth.org/
02:41 Polititweet https://polititweet.org/

FOLLOW ALONG (OPTIONAL)
Try searching for a topic keyword across the tools (examples):
“border”
“immigration”
“NATO”
“trade”
Then compare results across at least two sources and note: date, platform, URL, and whether the post is still live.

ETHICS NOTE
These methods are for researching public figures and public interest content using public archives. Don’t use them to target private individuals, harass anyone, or amplify personal data. Context matters, and a single deleted post rarely tells the full story.

This tutorial is part of the OSINT At Home series: tutorials using practical case studies you can do right from your laptop.

In this video, we explore how night-time imagery can reveal what’s really happening on the ground — from power blackouts and natural disasters, to conflict developments and urban growth. Using NASA’s Black Marble and Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) night lights data, I’ll show you how to visualise changes over time, detect sudden disruptions, and track real-world events using open data.

We’ll walk through:
01:14 - How to use NASA Worldview and Black Marble night lights data
02:59 - Analysing night lights VIIRS data over Ukraine
05:12 - Tracking the blackout in Gaza using NASA night lights
06:41 - Viewing blackouts after disasters with NASA Black Marble
07:53 - North Korea's night lights
08:54 - Tracking vessels at night with NASA Black Marble
10:03 - Using the timelapse feature to view NASA Black Marble night lights

Whether you’re an OSINT researcher, journalist, or just curious about how satellites see our world, this episode will help you use night lights imagery to track change, conflict, and crisis, all from home.

Satellite imagery is one of the most powerful tools available to investigators, journalists, researchers, and those looking at our amazing world, not because it shows everything, but because it allows you to cross-check reality from multiple independent perspectives.

In this video, I walk through six free satellite imagery sources that I regularly use in OSINT and verification work. Using multiple real world cases across different platforms, I show how each source reveals something different: historical change, multispectral indicators, cloud-piercing radar, high-resolution detail, or alternative viewing angles.

The key takeaway is simple: no single satellite source is enough on its own. Real analysis comes from combining tools, historical imagery for context, spectral data for environmental change, and high-resolution basemaps for detail, while always checking capture dates and metadata to avoid false conclusions or confirmation bias.

This tutorial is aimed at anyone working with:

Open Source Intelligence (OSINT)

Verification and fact-checking

Geolocation and GEOINT

Journalism, research, and documentary work

Humanitarian, environmental, or conflict analysis

Or anyone that wants to check out their house, find a surfing spot or view the world's wonders

Free satellite imagery tools covered in this video
00:53: Google Earth Pro https://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/earth/about/versions/
02:29: Copernicus Browser https://browser.dataspace.copernicus.eu/
05:45 Esri World Imagery Wayback https://livingatlas.arcgis.com/wayback
08:13 ArcGIS Map Viewer / World Imagery https://www.arcgis.com/apps/mapviewer
10:54 Apple Maps https://maps.apple.com/
12:02 Bing Maps https://www.bing.com/maps

Important note on imagery dates
Many platforms display a basemap publication date, which can differ from the actual imagery capture date. When doing verification or time-sensitive analysis, always click through metadata or layer information to confirm when the image was truly captured.

Recommended workflow
In practice, I usually combine:

Google Earth Pro for historical context

Copernicus for multispectral or radar analysis

Esri Wayback or ArcGIS World Imagery for high-resolution comparison
Using multiple sources together helps reduce misinterpretation and confirmation bias.
