I’ve always had a deep love for the feeling I get when I’m sitting next to pond lilies in bloom. To me they are one of those transformational medicines...

Not only do they have a beautiful clean flower that emerges from the stagnant muds of the marsh, but they also contain potent chemistry that is astringent, demulcent and cooling for hot and inflamed conditions. Plus the research being done on the nuphar alkaloids in Pond Lilly roots has shown some promising results for some forms of cancer and other chronic conditions.

Pedicularis is primarily used as a skeletal muscle relaxant, though it also can be very effective at calming down certain types of anxiety and overwhelm.

It can be a great choice if there is muscle tension and conditions associated with an overactive sympathetic nervous system, such as insomnia, emotional upset and overthinking.
Its relaxant properties can help relieve tension headaches, as well as joint and muscle pain from sprains, strains, and overuse.

Nettles are known for their stinging hairs that can cause skin irritation, but they are also one of the most important spring greens we can find in the natural world. Once harvested, nettles can be cooked or steamed to remove the sting and added to soups, teas, pesto, or as a substitute for spinach in recipes.

Scutellaria lateriflora (Mad dog Skullcap) is the most commonly use skullcap.
Scutellaria galericulata (Marsh Skullcap) can be interchangeably used with similar benefits.
Scutellaria baicalensis (Chinese Baikal Skullcap) is used as a root medicine and has different health properties from the American Skullcaps.
